Do you know this face? No? Okay, another question then. Do you know these titles: “Alien”, “Blade Runner”, “Gladiator”? Aha, you know… Then you should know this face: this is director Sir Ridley Scott.

Why do I write about this? Because I am just back after yet another masterpiece of his, “A Good Year” with Russell Crowe. The movie is nothing but a plain love story saying that better to be a prosperous winemaker in France than a successful broker in London. We didn’t know that, eh? But this one happened to be such a witty and exciting thing, such a rare creature in the modern cinema, such a beautiful piece of true art…

This is very English: to love France (I didn’t say French)! Always sunny country, full of food, wine and love. My astropuzzle was: why did Sir Ridley Scott shot this movie at his 70? You know that joke about Mozart and vitamins… We, astrologers, have our humble fun of knowing, right?

After some goooogling, I have realised that Mr Scott has been happily dating (after two divorces, Venus in Scorpio) a Latinos beauty, Ms Giannina Facio, who appears in all his movies since 2000:

External circle is for Mr Scott - he is Sagittarius, whereas his lady is Virgo. So, what inspires him for cinematographic hymns?

We see quite an exceptional agreement of Moons, Suns and Mercuries, and nicely looking Venus-Mars connection. Maybe that Saturn of hers is not too friendly to his Mars and Moon, but beautiful women are expected to have little weaknesses. Both have afflicted Venuses, and this too helps: partner with similar problems always understands better.

See? What love does to people? After “Alien” and “Gladiator”, the old good European style… Back to roots, driven by happiness…

So Much About Politics

On June 23, on the Yahoo group "Angelicus Merlin", Ruhama Veltfort suggested to discuss a horary chart regarding the forthcoming elections in the United States:

"Will the Republicans Maintain Control of Congress?"

In the chart, 10th house is remarkable, with strong Venus and Moon on evil stars. Venus rules 3rd which might signify the mass-media of the state. Venus on Alcione and Moon on Algol signify strong (dignities) and public (10th house) reasons to weep. Moon is a cosignificator of the incumbent, but also rules 12th and is in 10th: hidden stuff related to the ruling party becomes visible.

I also looked at the chart of the eclipse on September 22, 2006:

Here 2nd & 7th ruler Mars in detriment hits 1st house of the state chart. Seems that both opponents and assistants might create problems. In this analysis, I considered the chart of the USA with Virgo rising, which is used by my Jyotish Guru.

I posted my conclusion which can be found in the June AM list archive. I predicted a scandal prior the elections, which could be revealed at the end of September - beginning of October.

As we all know now, the predicted event is the FoleyGate, which was proclaimed on September 24, 2006.

P.S. Mark Foley was born on September 8, 1954, with Venus in Scorpio in conjunction with Saturn.

Gerard Philipe & Cardano

Last week, I read an amazing article about Gerard Philipe who had been my favourite actor for many years.

As a fan, I collected all available materials: photos, newspaper articles, books, CDs. I even visited Avignon where he performed with TNP. I read the book of his wife Anne Philipe (Le Temps D'un Soupir) written after his death of cancer in 1959, when he was just 37 and at the top of his fame. Their love story was so impressive and unblemished, that I was surprised, when started doing astrology, to see his Venus in Scorpio and retro.

Something was definitely wrong with astrology, I thought, if this youth with angelic appearance, with eight years of respectable family love and two kids, with his wife adoring him and mourning over him for many years after he had passed away, that this symbol of fresh post-war France had astrological indications, as Cardano said, of filthy lust.

Gerard Philipe was born on December 4, 1922 in Cannes, France and died on November 22, 1959. I rectified the chart, but actually only the Venus position is relevant to this post:

The article devoted to Gerard Philipe was published in the "Caravan", Russian 'glamour' magazine, which contains, in particular, stories about past celebrities - good source of data for astrological analysis. It was quite extended, mainly repeating the known facts of his biography, but then there was the most surprising 'personal' section. His father was a Nazi collaborator and escaped the execution moving to Spain. Gerard helped him to break away and often visited him in Barcelona as a made up anonymous - and too visited local brothels, where he became quite known for his harshness. Nobody suspected this in Paris, where he was a famous professional, loving husband and father...

Probably his Jupiter in own term was ashamed, and his dark passions were released occasionally and only in the foreign land.

I do not know whether I should be disappointed about the ideal hero or be impressed with wisdom of Cardano. After all, we are all mortals with our sins... And Gerard Philipe is indeed a great actor.

But the astrology seems to be as triumphant as ever.
