Pavel Haas Quartet

Today in a concert of Pavel Haas Quartet from Czechia, the group which is able to induce passionate soul even into modernistic cacophony, I was listening to Janacek. If you have not tried it yet, try only if it is performed by Pavel Haas Quartet!

I was listening, and suddenly an analogy came. This music, how similar it is – not to another music - to the writings of Kafka…

I came home and, well, I checked the charts, yes. Both Kafka and Janacek were born on July 3 – do not know whether this is surprising or not…

Moreover, both have Venus and Saturn in Gemini and spoilt Jupiter (Janacek’s is detrimented and retro, and Karka’s is combust).

The Pavel Haas Quarter is young, these four exceptions musicians (Veronika Jaruskova, Marie Fuxová, Pavel Nikl, Peter Jarusek) have released only two CDs yet – both with Janacek. I cannot wait for the next one: their expression, coherence and pianissimo technique are terrific; just need some better music worth spending money for CD…
